About
Hi! I’m Cezara!
I am a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MHNP). I was born in 1988 in a small town in Romania. My family and I relocated to the Montreal suburbs in 2002. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 2011, and then with a Master of Science in nursing from McGill University in 2015.
I practiced as a clinical nurse with older adults suffering from mental health problems at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. In early 2020, I graduated from the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at McGill University, where it was offered for the first time in Canada! It was a great program, which prepared me for additional challenges and responsibilities.
I now work at the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, and at a medical center on the South Shore as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I also contribute to the education of future Nurse Practitioners at McGill University and to research projects within my clinical teams. In the future, I am planning to obtain my Psychotherapy license in order to better meet the needs of the population I am working with.
Why PsyConnect?
As a nurse, the notions of health promotion and disease prevention are close to my heart. Therefore, I always wanted to promote people’s self-management of their health problems. To do that, I needed resources. I have accumulated, over years, many such resources and I wanted to share them with a larger audience.
Throughout my practice, I also noticed that people were often not adequately informed of their rights and responsibilities when accessing care. With my section on health education, I hope to increase awareness of ethical health services and the need for healthcare users to become active partners in their care.
Lastly, I am also taking this space to share my thoughts on different topics, in my blog.
Thank you!
